We are a collective of committed researchers and lecturers who are outraged and disappointed by the far-reaching normalization of transgressive behavior in academia.
There is a persistent silence surrounding transgressive behaviour. Those affected are silenced in all sorts of ways or choose to remain silent themselves, out of fear of the consequences. We want to help break this culture of silence by offering a platform on which people can tell their story in their own words.
These ‘own words’ are very important to us: if our stories are told at all, they are often cast in legal, procedural jargon. This vocabulary does not match our lived experience of transgressive behaviour. With this initiative, we want to give people the space to put their own experiences into words in a way that feels right to them.
When you submit a submission, it is always read by a member of our collective. If there is identifiable information in the text, such as personal names or names of institutions, it is removed. The text is then published on our website.
In our current team structure, we cannot:
receive or forward reports to institutions
provide psychological, legal or material assistance
provide guidance in existing procedures
provide support for complaints or reports
offer mediation
For this we would like to refer you to other agencies that have the relevant expertise.
If you are looking for further assistance, take a look at the page I need support.
